BEING

Creativity is the essence of life. The act of becoming who we are forms the root of our existence as human beings. Constantly emerging from one moment into another, our expressions of activity define the nature of consciousness. We know ourselves by what we do. What we do is an outcome generated, among many considerations, by our beliefs and convictions, our attractions and aversions, and priorities dictated by our needs and abilities. Nowhere is this self-awareness more tangible than in the things we make.
Architecture embraces all that we create. For the majority of people, humanly fashioned environments comprise an omnipresent envelope of personal passage through life. We are inextricably bound to both ourselves and others by the structures erected in service of both personal and communal purposes. Our encounters with buildings are simultaneously physical and psychological; they reflect inner as well as outer conditions. We discover, sustain, and impart meaning in the choice of form and material. Buildings transmit identity.
In this perspective, architecture is the supreme gesture of self-empowerment.
